Light and moisture are the primary enemies of minerals
Buying a high-quality supplement is only half the equation, it also needs to stay stable at home. Chelated minerals and amino acids are hygroscopic, meaning they readily absorb moisture from the air. In addition, UV radiation from direct sunlight can break down molecular bonds over time. That is why we use dark amber glass jars instead of clear plastic. The dark glass filters out harmful wavelengths and does not release chemical plasticizers into the capsules.
Best practices at home
You do not need complicated storage methods, but a few simple habits extend shelf life significantly.
- Avoid humid spaces: Do not store the jar in the bathroom cabinet where steam from the shower can enter upon opening. A cool pantry or nightstand works far better.
- Fasten the lid tightly: Ensure the sealing ring inside the lid closes firmly every time you take your capsule.
- Keep the desiccant packet inside: The small silica packet in the jar is there for a reason, discard it only when the jar is completely empty.
Cellulose capsules
Our capsules are made from vegetable cellulose (HPMC). Unlike traditional gelatin capsules, they handle temperature changes better without becoming sticky or brittle, ensuring the contents remain dry and intact throughout use.
